Kassos
Go alongside the inner quay, space is reserved for yachts so harbourmaster
will move any fishing boats in yacht spaces. Harbourmaster very friendly
and helpful. Offers email service, also ACS internet cafe only 3Euro/hour
and can take your own laptop up for 2 Euro/hour. Good quality fruit and
veg. Mylos taverna good for basic fare.
Tilos
Town quay has been dredged so there is 2-3m depth along the town quay, berth
stern or bows to. Water and electricity available. Electricity 3
Euro a day. Water available. Good provisions, tavernas and
restaurants ashore. Internet cafe 3.50 Euro per 30 minutes.
Nisiros
Palon harbour stern or bows to outer mole, can go alongside eastern
breakwater but a tripper boat comes in there so you may have to move.
Limited provisions, but a bakery, butcher, and fish from the fishermen.
Water by mini-tanker. Captain's taverna excellent, cheap food and bike
rental. A trip to the volcano possible by scooter, takes a few hours and
is a must see. Go early to avoid the crowds. Watch out for the cat
on the quay, lifting your passerelle won't deter him from boarding you, he
jumps!
Kos
Kos marina is extremely busy so avoid midweek onwards, the marina staff will
move your boat to make way for charter boats. Excellent facilities and
suprisingly cheap provisioning in the supermarkets behind the marina.
Lipsi
Pleasant anchorage, good shelter and holding. Town has basic
provisions, fresh fish from fishermen on the quay
Pythagorion, Samos
Bow or stern to town quay, alternatively anchor in the bay outside of the
main harbour, poor holding on sand and weed. Space is at a premium due to
several charter fleets monopolising space on the quay. Excellent
holding in main harbour. Water and electricity on the quay,
expensive!. Excellent chandler in main street. If you have fridge
problems ask for Giannis in Anthemis cafe on the front. Excellent
provisioning, cheap car and scooter hire. Recommend taverna Trata on beach
front past the Pythagoras hotel. New marina constructed and completed 20 minuts walk eastwards of
town. All facilities are in place but it's deserted. Large
travel hoist and lots of hardstanding.
Agathonisi
Charming port on the south of the island, good shelter. Anchorage is
quite crowded but you can go Bow or stern to ot alongside the quay avoiding the
coastguard and ferry berths. Many of the bars and restaurants offer internet and
showers. Recommend George's taverna near the quay. |
