Port of Salalah (Mina
Raysuit)
16o56.22N 54o00.36E
The harbour now has a huge new breakwater extenting from SW of the old one to
about halfway along the fairway. Make for the fairway buoy (approx
16o57.0N 54o04.3E) .
It has been reported that some yachts have been instructed to anchor in the
outer harbour when the yacht basin is crowded. We found it very tight in the
basin and we did drag a few times, probably due to the fact we couldn't lay the
scope we wanted.
Out of the port and turn left up the hill and on the right you will find the
Oasis club. Draught beer, cider, wines and spirits and they even sell pork ribs,
sausages and bacon! They can also advise where the shop is if you wish to buy
frozen pork products to provision. Alcohol is not available unless you are
resident and have a police permit to purchase it. Diesel we could only get by
hiring a car and going to a filling station with jerries. Water is on the quay.
Good shopping in Salalah, a modern city with most facilities. |
